In the years 1921 and 1923, the Archaeological Service, under the able direction of the Archaeological Inspector, the late B. de Haan, overhauled the bathing-place thoroughly, restoring it, as far as possible, to its original state. PI. 1 gives a general view of the graceful design and the rigorous simplicity of the monument in its present condition. It has been cut, so to say, into the mountain side and its situation exactly corresponds to the points of the compass, facing westward.
