Far more would be involved than idle curiosity. The event might bring about a radical shift of interest, it would shake many to the foundations, and could perhaps work a major move forward in human affairs. Explorations ofspace might be nothing to it. All power then to psychical research. It is not a panacea for all evils. Its potential is limited. But within its limits it could well have results, not merely of immense excitement in themselves, but far-reaching and profoundly beneficial for human society.

I am free now in the sense that I am not in prison, I write these words of my own accord since no one is guiding my hand, or again in a different sense because I have no aversion to writing in this way or some like psychological hindrance, or yet again because there is no law against it.
