Between boulder and cascades a small group of pines has found a precarious perch protected, yet perpetually threatened. Further on, the cascades come crashing down through a sluiceway of enormous boulders, and passes under the footbridge that continues the trail. Upstream, the thrashing water is split by massive, rock outcroppings, the largest supporting miniature gardens complete with trees and shrubs, and all along the banks the forest is lush and verdant, in response to the abundance of water in the area.
